All Year: day and night visits to the 30cm telescope in the Faculty continue. Typically six groups of 10-20 people attend per month.

February 16 to March 10: Inflatable Planetarium visits Talcahuano (1 week), Santa Juana (1 week), Penco (1 week) in Feb-Mar 2009. Total public served approx. 2000. Support from Gemini Observatory; funding from Fondo ALMA 31060012, Fondecyt 1080324, Fondap Astronomy

January 30 - February 1: UdeC booth at Astroday, La Serena. Funding from Fondo ALMA 31060012

January 5: UdeC participation in Chilean node of IYA2009. Funding from Fondo ALMA 31060012

2008
All Year: day and night visits to the 30cm telescope in the Faculty continue. Typically six groups of 10-20 people attend per month.

CG Jimenez gave a workshop for UdeC undergraduate students of education. The workshop focused on training students in the Family Astro and Hands-on Optics Programs. Materials contibuted by Gemini.

March-December: Organized Science Academy of Astronomy with participation of 10 schools, approx. 12 students per school. Involved weekly visits to schools to conduct 2hr workshops and activites. Included two video conferences between students of Concepcion and La Serena to share educational experiences. Support and material from OPCC and Gemini. Partial funding from Fondo ALMA 31060012.

April (3 weeks) and June (2 weeks): Inflatable Planetarium visits Talcahuano (2 weeks), Penco (1 week), Hualpen (1 week). Total public served approx. 3000. Support from Gemini Observatory; funding from Fondo ALMA 31060012.

UdeC participation (CG Jimenez) in various planning meetings in Santiago for Chilean node of IYA2009. Partial funding from Fondo ALMA 31060012

March-July: CG Jimenez gave a workshop on The Invisible Universe at four meetings of the Red de Profesores de Fisica. Materials from Chandra Observatory.

February 1-5: one week visit with approx. 135 students and 10 high school teachers to La Serena, CTIO, Gemini, Observatorio Cerro Mayu as part of UdeC Explora project on light pollution. Funding from Explora EST1/017 and Fondo ALMA 31060012

January-February: second part of UdeC Explora project on Light Pollution: termination of light pollution meters, measurements in the field, and related workshops. Funding from Explora EST1/017.

2007

All Year: day and night visits to the 30cm telescope in the Faculty continue. Typically six groups of 10-20 people attend per month.

August-December: Explora EST1/017: UdeC Astronomy gained 7million pesos in funding from Explora for a project to build and use light contamination meters. Twelve schools from the Concepcion area, each with approx. 10 high school students and one science teacher participated in the construction and use of light pollution meters. Several seminars, including talks by Dr. Malcom Smith and Pedro Sanhueza of the OPCC were organized as part of this project.

August(?): UdeC Astronomy Travelling Exhibition visits Arauco for one week. Guided and individual tours accomodated more than 1000 visitors.

February(?): UdeC Astronomy Travelling Exhibition visits Talcahuano for one week. Guided and individual tours accomodated more than 1000 visitors.
