Matías Gómez obtained his PhD in 2004 at Universidad Católica de Chile, under the supervision of Leopoldo Infante (PUC) and Tom Richtler (UdeC). As part of the thesis work, he spent two years at University of Bonn and studied globular clusters in early-type galaxies. He joined UdeC in January 2004 as a postdoc for the Space Interferometry Mission (SIM) of NASA. His interests include extragalactic globular clusters and type Ia Supernovae.
