Jean-Baptiste Juin's research focuses on cosmological parameters estimation using Sunyaev Zel'dovich (SZ) cluster counts as a function of redshift. A new generation of large bolometer arrays will soon begin operation, for example: Olimpo, APEX-SZ and Planck. These instruments are designed to have sufficient sensitivity to detect the hot intra-cluster gas up to redshifts 2 and on a wide field (from 100 square degrees to all-sky). These instruments will enable the first SZ clusters catalog (between 100 and 10000 sources), leading to an independant (with respect to SNIa and CMB observations) estimation of cosmological

parameters. Jean-Baptiste Juin, using simulations, studied selection effects of such surveys, and showed their complexity and their importance to understand future observed catalogs. Jean-Baptiste Juin obtained his PhD in observational cosmology on the 21st September 2005 at the University "Louis Pasteur de Strasbourg", France. He joined the astronomy group at the Universidad de Concepcion as an `ALMA postdoctoral researcher' in March 2006 and moved to a new postdoctoral position at P.U. Catolica, Santiago, Chile in March 2008.
