Alejandro García completed his Ph.D. in 2008. His thesis (under the supervision of Prof. Wolfgang Gieren) involved searching for Cepheid variable stars in the Sculptor galaxies NGC247, NGC55 and NGC7793. Using the P-L (period-luminosity) relations he works on obtaining the relative distance moduli of these galaxies with accuracy better than 5%, taking into account environmental effects like metallicity and age on the P-L relation. Alejandro obtained his M.Sc. degree at Pontificia Universidad Católica de Chile with a thesis (under the supervision of Dante Minniti) on the simulation of binary populations in the LMC.
