Beatriz Eugenia Sabogal Martínez completed her Ph.D. in 2008. Her thesis (under the supervision of Prof. Ronald Mennickent) dealt with the nature and properties of 4 types of eruptive blue variable stars, which have been recently found in the Magellanic Clouds. Beatriz obtained her M.Sc. degree at Pontificia Universidad Católica de Chile with a thesis (under the supervision of Professors Dante Minniti and René Méndez) on photometric variability of brown dwarfs
